The Galileo Refractors 720x80 Deluxe
Telescope is mounted on Galileo's Super Glide Altitude Azimuth mount. It's easy
use up and down, left and right movement is great for beginners and casual star
gazers alike. Terrestrial viewing is extremely easy due to the included 45
degree diagonal which produces a totally erect image. The Super Glide mount
features slow motion controls in both axis for precision adjustments. The Mount
of this 720x80 Deluxe Refractor Telescope is attached to a very sturdy, fully
adjustable, pre-assembled metal tripod with retractable rubber feet. The tripod
also features an accessory tray with slots to place 4 1¼″ eyepieces or lenses.
The optical tube assembly attaches to the mount by an adjustable tube clamp
which in combination with the adjustable counter balance weight ensures easy
fluid movement of the telescope at all times. Also included with the Galileo
FS-720DX is a 2x Flip Barlow which you can only find at Galileo's Place. No
fumbling with eyepieces and lenses, just flip a knob, and instantly double the
power of your telescope. Turn the knob again to turn the Barlow off and view at
normal focal length. This Galileo Refractor telescope's optical tube assembly is
finished out with a large 1¼″ format focus tube. The Galileo FS-720DX optical
tube assembly features a 720mm focal length. The objective lens is an 80mm two
element achromatic (color correct crown & flint) air spaced objective lens. The
tube itself is aluminum, painted flat black internally, and fully baffled for
excellent visual and CCD imaging. The objective is fully multi-coated and has a
resolving power of 1.4 arc seconds. The optical tube assembly is diffraction
limited at λ4 (1/4 wave in Sodium light). The diagonal consists of a 45 degree
Schmidt prism that is fully coated in Magnesium Fluoride (refractive index: n =
1.38). The finderscope is Galileo’s Mars’ Eye electronic Finderscope which helps
by getting the observer behind the telescope without losing the surrounding
field of view when targeting objects. Included with the FS-720DX are an 1¼″
6.8mm to 16mm zoom eyepiece (42° apparent field of view @ 6.8mm), an 1¼″ 25mm
Astroscopic eyepiece and a 2x Flip Barlow. The 25mm is a 3 element, fully color
corrected, modified Rank Kasspheric eyepiece with an apparent field of view of
52°.
